Dance Attire

Dance Attire:

Students at the Academy of Dance Arts wear a uniform dance attire; plain black leotard (no designs or attached skirt) and non-shiny pink tights. Male students may wear a plain t-shirt and comfortable pants (non-baggy).

Required Footwear:

Creative Movement: Ballet and tap shoes

Ballet/Tap: Ballet and tap shoes

Ballet/Jazz: Ballet shoes

Ballet: Ballet shoes (pointe shoes require faculty approval)

Jazz: Ballet shoes

Hip Hop: Sneakers

Tap: Black tap shoes (Lace up style)

Modern: Barefoot

Lyrical: Ballet shoes


Hair: Students’ hair is required to be pulled back into a neat bun for all classes. Short hair must be securely pulled back and pinned neatly away from the face.

Jewelry: No bracelets or necklaces should be worn in classes. Appropriate jewelry includes small earrings only.

Shoes: For young students, please make sure the drawstrings of their ballet shoes are cut short and tucked in so they do not come untied during class.

Street clothes: Students should always enter and leave the studio wearing street clothes or warmups over leotards and tights.
